We’ve created this communication channel ✍️ 📹 🎙️ to explain the #HorizonWorld: who we are, what we do and the benefits of working with us or purchasing our products.
And to start off, we thought we should take advantage of our first blog post to introduce ourselves and tell you a bit more about us.
Horizon is a business project launched in 2019 by an entrepreneurial team with over 30 years of experience in valorisation of animal by-products, particularly porcine intestinal mucosa. After all this time in the sector, we knew we wanted to do something different, something new, something disruptive. We wanted to unleash all the biological power of the intestinal mucosa.
With this goal, we unapologetically began to reformulate the existing business model for porcine intestinal mucosa 🧪 🏭 🌎. We turned our suppliers into partners and have integrated fully into the value chain. We built our fractionation units in the abattoir and have improved the production process, with unprecedented traceability, freshness and quality. This is our starting point.
We also have close ties with our commercial and technological partners, who we work with using the mucosa fractions to develop innovative new applications in medicine, nutrition, agriculture and industry. This is what led to our AKAX bioagriculture line, which is yielding its first fruits, making our crazy ideas 😉 into reality, one step at a time.
But this is just the beginning. We know that intestinal mucosa is a biological treasure that is not taken advantage of today, so we propose starting from scratch and reinventing fractionation to get new molecules that will bring about an intestinal health paradigm shift. We know it’s a long road full of obstacles. But we’re brave, willing to take the risk and, as our name indicates, always pursuing new Horizons.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our small but incredible team that takes every step and overcomes each obstacle in our path. In the lab, production plants, office or travelling the world, they are the ones who are making this dream take shape more and more each day.
