Horizon has established a new facility solely dedicated to the global production of organic and ecological fertilisers, biostimulants and bionutrients for bioagriculture. Situated in Baeza (Jaén), one of Spain’s prime agricultural regions, the new premises span 1,000 square metres and boast cutting-edge technology.

With over 30 years of industry experience, Horizon is dedicated to valorising porcine intestinal mucosa to create natural and innovative products that enhance the health of people, animals and plants.

For this latest product range, Horizon uses a high-quality protein hydrolysate sourced from its intestinal mucosa fractionation units. Following this, the protein hydrolysate undergoes stabilisation, concentration and purification processes, and is enriched with macro and microelements to fulfil the nutritional requirements of each crop (vegetables, fruits, etc.) under various climatic conditions and phenological stages.

All these products are meticulously developed by Horizon’s R&D team, grounded in scientific research and proven effectiveness.

José Escaich, CEO and co-founder of Horizon, explains, “At Horizon, we develop, manufacture and market natural products to help growers enhance the health and performance of their crops. Our aim is to offer each grower a bespoke formula, promoting the sustainable agriculture that the planet needs.”

Global organic agriculture continues its expansion. According to the latest edition of The World of Organic Agriculture published by FiBL, more than 96 million hectares of agricultural land were under organic management in 2022 (a 540% increase from 2000), spanning 188 countries and involving at least 4.5 million farmers.

Horizon has been awarded a grant of €368,916 from the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia (IDEA) with 80% co-financed by the European Union, for the construction of the new plant aimed at fostering a more competitive business environment.
