Horizon has presented its new AKAX® line of 100% natural bioestimulant and bionutrient products to help farmers and producers improve crop health and yield sustainably.
The AKAX® solutions are the result of years of research and have scientifically proven benefits for all sorts of field and greenhouse crops (horticulture, fruit trees, grapevines, olive trees, etc.), unlocking the biological potential of the plant, soil and rhizosphere.
The starting point and flagship is the AKAX® Core biostimulant, an organic base with bioactive peptides, native L-alpha-amino acids and other organic compounds to activate the plant’s metabolic processes, boosting its growth and strengthening its defences.
Root application of AKAX® Core boosts the plant’s photosynthetic and antioxidant capacity, mainly in cases of low light, low temperatures or water stress. AKAX® Core also improves absorption and use of nutrients and triggers an elicitor effect on plant defences. Plus, AKAX® Core can boost microbial biodiversity in the rhizosphere, which leads to better quality soil that is better for the plant.
All of these effects have been proven in the field and their mechanisms of action have been characterised using biochemical analyses and gene expression studies.
Horizon formulates the base for AKAX® Core with macro- and micro-elements and other bioactive compounds to design precise bionutrition products that cover the nutritional needs of each crop based on the time of application:
- AKAX® Foliar Plus Zn+Mn+B to prevent deficiencies of zinc, manganese and boron during pollination, flowering and fruit set.
- AKAX® Ca+Mg to prevent and treat calcium and magnesium deficiencies.
- AKAX® Micromix to prevent and make up for nutritional deficiencies in extensive crops. Highly effective in soils with adverse conditions (high or low pH, drought or excess moisture, low nutrient availability).
- AKAX® Seaweed to stimulate fruit set and development, improving crop quality and yield.
